City of Madison, Liberty Village Accessible Playground
Liberty Village Playground is a special place for the City of Madison. Years ago the community came together to build a playground that reflected Madison’s personality and citizens worked as volunteers to build a playground under big shady oak trees. Fast forward 20 years to a blossoming small town a few miles away from the State’s Capital. The Mississippi Society for Disabilities championed this project and partnered with the City of Madison to create a playground where all children and families in the community could experience play side-by- side and have easy access to a fully accessible playground. The old wooden structure was a treasure to the city, so the main structure was renovated and a new paved pathway was added winding through the original plan leading to the new fully accessible structure and fun new play opportunities.
Special consideration was taken to include a lifelike GFRC tree base with hidden animals, GFRC climbing rocks, and log steppers to blend with the older structure. Kids and parents alike have fallen in love with this beautiful playground that everyone can enjoy. The playground has a double ZipKrooz, one with a pod seat and one with a harness swing seat so kids of any ability can fly right next to their friends! This park is loaded with sensory and inclusive play including the Oodle Swing, the OmniSpin Spinner, Sway Fun Glider and a fully ramped structure with Shade. Come visit to see what everyone is raving about!
